Split a restaurant or group bill evenly after a tip or service charge and a fixed discount, including the amount each person owes.
How an even split is calculated
The tip or service charge is a percentage of the entered subtotal. A fixed discount is subtracted afterward. The remaining total is divided equally. The calculator does not itemize separate orders.
Tip = subtotal × rate ÷ 100 Total = max(0, subtotal + tip − discount) Amount per person = total ÷ number of people
Example
An $80 bill with an 18% tip is $14.40 of tip. An $8 discount leaves $86.40, or $21.60 each for four people.
What this split leaves out
Card-network fees, foreign-currency conversion, tax-inclusive service charges, and per-person orders are not modeled. If cash payments need whole dollars, the group has to assign any remainder.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add both a service charge and a tip?
This page has one percentage field. If both are calculated on the same subtotal, add the rates. If they use different bases, calculate them separately.
Can the total become negative?
No. The total stops at zero, and extra discount is not treated as cash back.
Are the per-person amounts rounded?
Displayed money uses two decimal places. The group still has to assign any cash remainder.
Can I split by what each person ordered?
No. This version only divides the same total evenly.
